Overview of Municipal Taxation and Property Tax Rates

Komal Basatia is an experienced finance leader with a demonstrated history of working in the government management industry. Presently, Komal is the General Manager of Finance and Procurement Services for the City of Abbotsford, geographically the largest City in the Province of BC. In this role, Komal provides strategic leadership and direction to the finance, procurement, and infrastructure management departments.

Komal has over 17 years of progressive experience that crosses both the public and private sector. Before moving in the public sector, Komal worked at the corporate office for one of the largest home improvement and construction products companies in Canada. As part of this role, he was responsible for analysis on mergers and acquisitions and major capital projects.

Komal's educational background includes a bachelor degree in business administration from the University of Fraser Valley and a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.

Komal is an active member of the Government Finance Officers Association of British Columbia (GFOA BC), currently serving on the External Relations Committee. In the past, he also served on the Educational Committee. Komal is also one of the board members with the Lower Mainland Local Government Management Association (LMLGMA).
