Rotary Youth Leadership Awards are being held May 24 – 27, 2018
This is a four day intensive workshop that is an opportunity for 18-30 year olds to learn valuable leadership skills, develop confidence, and network with like-minded people. Held in a beautiful retreat setting just across the border, you will be fed both literally and intellectually, and will form lasting friendships.
This session is limited to 60 attendees. We have approved sponsoring two people this year, so we are looking for people who would be interested in attending. Do you know someone who would be interested in this opportunity? If so please let Dave Loewen or Doris Woodman-McMillan know asap.
On March 5th, our board voted unanimously in favour of partnering with our other Abbotsford Rotary clubs, the Chilliwack club, and potentially, several other clubs in a wheelchair project to Guatemala for 2019 and 2020. The proposed project is intended to resource a local manufacturer in Antigua, Guatemala to not only manufacture chairs, but also provide ongoing maintenance for chairs already distributed. The project’s ultimate goal is to build sustainability into the manufacturing of wheelchairs for a local Guatemala company. An integral part of this two-year project will be active participation by members of our club in 2020, as a way of marking our club’s 70th anniversary.
Start planning your vacation time now for early 2020. More details to come.
The Rotary Club of Abbotsford is a fellowship of community members who volunteer their time and raise money through fundraising efforts to support and fund local community projects and services. The Rotary Club of Abbotsford annually accepts Service Project funding requests from local organizations whose requests fall within our general guidelines. Applications that fit the criteria are not automatically guaranteed funding, the Rotary Club of Abbotsford reviews applications based on our current funding priorities and available resources.
Please review the guidelines and application here. Deadline for applications is March 31, 2018.
