(Abbotsford, BC) - On September 22nd, the Rotary Club of Abbotsford was pleased to present a $29,000 donation to the Abbotsford Hospice, thanks to the successful Rotary Million Dollar Hole-in-One fundraising event. It raised over $44,000, only made possible by our generous sponsors and donors, our committed volunteers and of course, our 536 fun-loving, yet competitive, golfers. The other recipients of this event will be announced at a later date.

The Rotary Million Dollar Hole-in-One was started in a response to the club’s desire to support the Abbotsford Hospice in paying off their first mortgage. To-date the Rotary Club of Abbotsford has donated close to ½ million dollars to Abbotsford Hospice including Holmberg House.

Fundraising Director for the Rotary Club, Shirley Wilson said to a very full room “I am particularly humbled by the support from our community when it comes to charity. Our Rotary Club has committed to raising funds for important gaps and needs in our community and it could not be done without the support of many."

Dave Holmberg, community philanthropist and the family namesake of Holmberg House, shared his enthusiasm and thankfulness to Rotary stating, “the Rotary Million Dollar Hole-in-One is a terrific community effort and a great success.” David Turchen, Board Chair of the Abbotsford Hospice Society echoed this by saying, “nothing would have happened without Rotary’s unwavering support. Thank you very much!”
