(Abbotsford, BC) – The Rotary Club of Abbotsford celebrated today many community commitments as a result of their very successful Million Dollar Hole-in-One event held this past June. The event raised $60,000 over eight days with the thanks to many sponsors, donors, volunteers and participants.
 

On behalf of the club, President Angelo Rea thanked everyone involved today at a special luncheon held at the Salvation Army Cascade Centre. “This event could not happen without the commitment and support of so many, it was our most successful fundraiser to-date,” said President Angelo.

The Rotary Club of Abbotsford wishes to thank all of our Hole-in-One event sponsors:  Traveland RV Supercentre, BerryHill, the Abbotsford News, Relevention, Globe Printers, Clearbridge, Sunnyside Greenhouses, FraserGlen Golf Course, Canadian Western Bank, Envision Financial, Abbotsford Duty Free, Prospera Credit Union, DHM, Magnuson Ford, MountainView Harley-Davidson, Sandman Hotel and Suites and Dignity Memorial.

The prime recipient of the proceeds from the Million Dollar Hole-in-One Event was the Abbotsford Hospice Society to help build Holmberg House, a world-class facility providing end-of-life care to house adults and their grieving families and friends. A large cheque was presented to Executive Director, Debbie Lehmann in the amount of $42,700.

Four very worthy community charities also benefited from the proceeds. The Family Centre- Parenting Place received $4,000 for the Best for Babies Program. The Abbotsford Youth Commission received $3,550 for their Youth Leadership Training Program. The Fraser Valley Child Development Centre received $4,500 for their Smartboard Program. The Cyrus Centre received $2,500 for a new washer and dryer at the Centre.

The Rotary Club also presented the prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship Award to Lynn Holmberg to honor and recognize her for her tireless commitment to the Abbotsford community and generous support over the years.
